IGS Christmas Party 2026, Drimnagh Castle, Saturday 5th December
This year the IGS members’ Christmas Party will be held at Drimnagh Castle, parts of which date to the 13th century. It is the last castle in Ireland to retain its flooded moat. The current form of the Castle reflects its multi-phase construction that was commenced by Hugh De Berneval in 1215. The stable buildings date from the seventeenth century when the castle was owned by the Loftus family while further works were carried out in the eighteenth century. The Castle was occupied until the mid-20th century by the Hatch family, after which it fell into dereliction but in the mid-1980s it was saved and restored by a local committee group led by Peter Pearson who have since brought it back to life.
Time: 4pm-6.30pm with optional coach departing at 3:20pm from the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge.
Ticket price: €45 members/50 non-members (incl. donation to Drimnagh Castle). Return coach: +€30
